Interviewed by Trina NewbyDetermination, passion, positive mindset, and the desire to help others are just a few of the many incredible characteristics that describe self-made entrepreneur and motivational speaker,
Nicola Jackson. In spite of the challenges in her life, including having epileptic seizures as a child, teenage pregnancy, and learning to parent a physically challenged child – her strong desire to be a successful business woman has catapulted her into being one of the most successful women in direct sales.
Today, she and her husband Robert hold the coveted and highest position as Platinum Presidents with the direct sales company,
Ardyss International, known for its nutritional products and reshaping garment “Body Magic”.
Together they have built a Supreme Team of more than 26,000 sales associates who have grossed more than $18 million in sales in less than one year!
Her desire to see other members of her team succeed has helped to create several leaders who hold high ranking positions on all levels of the company including Platinum President. She is a sought after motivational speaker and travels the nation speaking at events and interviewing men and women who are seeking to be a part of her Supreme Team.
“I was born in Hartford, Connecticut and grew up with two brothers and one sister in a lower middle class community where I lived in a cultural melting pot and this has helped me to connect and communicate with people from all walks of life. I can remember visiting the different shops in various cultural communities as a child and remembering how exciting it was to visit the many family owned stores including those of my aunts and uncles. I would say to myself that one day I’m going to own my own business too”, says Nicola.
Nicola’s dream began taking shape even more when her mother started her own hair salon when she was around 12 years old and she began helping out with everything from receptionist and shampooing to suggesting different hairstyles to the customers. “I owe a lot of who I am to my mom, because she realized that I needed more direction and started taking me with her everywhere she went. I considered myself the “hair design diva” always looking in magazines for new hairstyle ideas that I could suggest to my mom’s customers” she says smiling.
At age 14, Nicola and her mother attended a Bronner Brothers Hair Show in Atlanta, Georgia and it was during this time that she knew for sure that her first entrepreneurial endeavor would be to own her very own hair salon just like her mom. Her mom made a bold decision and moved the family to Atlanta and started another salon shortly thereafter.
By the age of 20, Nicola owned her own hair salon and investing in real estate. She developed a clientele list of hundreds and met success quickly with her unique style suggestions and flair for knowing exactly what women were looking for. “As I was styling my customers' hair they would often tell me about houses that they saw empty in their communities, which helped me in real estate as well”, she says.
Already successful as a Master Hair Stylist and real estate investor, Nicola was presented with the
Ardyss opportunity while attending the Bronner Brother Hair Show in Atlanta, Georgia in 2008.
“I have always been the type of person to watch out closely for other financial opportunities and never make a hasty decision to say no before I really pray about it and consider how it can positively impact my life. While at the show, I visited the Ardyss International booth featuring the incredible reshaping garment,
“Body Magic” and I immediately knew that it was something special. Later on during the hair show, I decided to try on this special garment and was amazed that it took me down in size and gave me a great figure!I caught the vision of where joining Ardyss International and building a sales team could take me right away. I saw women all day, every day and knew that in my salon the hot topic was always losing weight and wishing they could get into certain outfits, so it was
the perfect match. I also realized that Ardyss nutritional products and Body Magic garment
would be easy to sell and that other women would be attracted to the opportunity just like I was.”, says Nicola.
